caLILfornia, part 2: beach baby

Remember when Lil was seen swinging at the park in our neighborhood? I swore I had never seen anything cuter than Lil in her little cardigan with a hand knit cap and a huge smile. But just for comparison's sake, we took Lil down to Venice Beach and stuck her on a swing. It's kind of similar to our Brooklyn park, complete with vagabonds snoozing on benches. I don't know, there might be a California girl hidden in there somewhere... and that blond hair could be permanent.

a lil video on a tuesday

While Mama was uploading one of today's videos to YouTube, she happened to look up and find Lil standing all on her own!  Then she fell right onto her big fluffy butt.  Too cute! It's unfortunate that we don't have it on video, but we did manage to roll the tapes at last week's visit to the neighborhood playground and got some footage of Lil living it up on the swing.  Mama has a lot to learn about videography, like how to push a swing and hold a camera in focus at the same time.  But here is her latest attempt for Video Tuesday.

Enjoy.

swing set

All this sun and cool air means that Lil can finally get to have some real outdoor fun.  Over at Cooper Park, there is a lovely kiddie playground with enough baby swings to go around.  Lil got her thrills  on the swings as the sun set behind her.  She watched the big kids play on the bouncy bridge, and go head first down the slide.  Next year Lil plans on doing the same, but for now the swing is her playground.

a swing and a lil miss

Since GranMary is being treated with chemotherapy, we have to take extra precautions so that Lil isn't exposed to any dangerous chemicals.  Luckily, GranMary's particular treatment only barred Lil from the hospital for one day, so we got in some outdoor playtime. We stayed at Miss Mary's house, and in her backyard there is a very special swing.  Lil got to experience her very first ride on a swing, and Mama was quick enough to capture it on video! It's pretty sweet, check it out...

an additional GranMary update:
We stayed in town until Saturday, but when we left GranMary was still in the hospital.  The good news is that the medicines she's on for breathing are helping a lot! Also, her appetite is making a come back, her mac & cheese was heartily consumed.  Even Mama said it tasted good!  The above mentioned chemotherapy was very easily tolerated, and her next dose will be in a couple weeks.  With all the love and prayers and positive energy, Lil will have a healthy GranMary in her life for a long time to come.
