hey there georgie girl

georgia with the golden locks

baby buddies
Lil & mama headed out to a meet-up to see some friends.  Lil ran into her buddy Georgia, and these two shared a few giggles and some smiles, but the attempted toy-share ran into some snags.  Georgia is about a month older than Lil, and she's definitely making some big moves. Her little turtle wrist rattle from Sevi is all organic cotton, and perfect for little teethers like Lil and Georgia (Mama jumped online and ordered a fishy for Lil shortly after returning home).  It was so much fun to see these two wee ones check each other out.  Georgia is a jubilant little peach with a gorgeous baby smile and a bubbly laugh.  Also I couldn't help but be charmed the by ruffle-rump bottoms she wore!

spring denim!

Today Lil wore her floral leggings and flamenco sleeve embroidered tee with a pair of trump l'oeil mary jane socks.  This is similar to another outfit, but this lovely day was the perfect day to premier her baby gap denim jacket.  I know it seems a bit showy for a baby, but it's really hard to find a good lightweight outer layer for a baby her age.  Either they're supposed to be swaddled and wrapped up in a bunting, or bundled in a heavy knit sweater.  The denim jacket is a perfect solution- not too warm, but it keeps the chill off her skin.  Plus it's way cuter than some old bunting any day.

puppy love

snips and snails, no. puppy dog tails, yes.

from brooklyn, with love
I know hearts are usually reserved for Valentine's Day, but babies have the ability to sport them year round.  They're also an exception to other fashion rules, like No White After Labor Day, Your Shoes Should Match (Your Outfit), and Always Wear One Sock on Each Foot.  Lil also happens to be very good at mixing prints, which every fashionista knows is the sign of a very gifted dresser.  Today she pulled off a puppy-print body suit with this love-ly cardi, and for some extra style, we paired the top with the polka dotted waist detail on her jeans. I am surprised there aren't more baby pants with faux belts.  Belts are one of the best accessories a baby will never need (that, and pockets).  Every girl knows a well defined waist is slimming, and makes your legs look longer.  Tell me, what baby doesn't need longer legs?

rose bud

Today Lil anxiously awaited the arrival of even more grandparents! She wanted to look especially cute, but not overly dressed, since we were staying in on this wet and dreary day.  She may not have been dressed to kill, but she was dressed to melt hearts, and her mission was easily accomplished.  I am quite sure the term "love at first sight" can apply to a grandparent and a grandchild, as I certainly witnessed this afternoon.

A cap-sleeve sweater with crochet trim is perfect over this super soft rose-pink dress.  She was comfortable, relaxed, and and perfectly charming!

foots and legs

"Tell me, O Octopus, I begs,
Is those things arms or is they legs?
                                        I marvel at thee, Octopus;
If I were thou, I'd call me Us."

harlequin romance

baby won-ton

Since yesterday was all about color, I thought today should feature a monotone style.  This dress is also in Lil's closet in red with pink polka dots, and it's so cute I'd be happy if we had it in any other color.  The black and white reminds me of mimes, and Lil did her best impression.  Her movements still lack precision, but a little wiggle improves her poses, I think.

Lil is also working on her contortionist skills.  It's pretty embarrassing to go to mommy and me classes with an infant who is better at yoga than her mama.  Even with all these new skills, Lil still remembers to give face.  I can only imagine what will happen when she can actually sit up.

rainbow room

Today Mama was nowhere to be found, but do you think Lil noticed? Not even!  She was too busy captivating her grandparents.  Mama didn't even dress Lil today. That credit goes to her grandmama.  She found this rainbow striped romper and some camo socks for our wee string bean, who enjoyed several airplane rides from her grumpa. It's good that we have very high ceilings in our living room, although I don't think ceiling height is really an issue for Grumpa. He has plenty of clearance.

Mama spent the day scoring some new summer looks for Lil and for herself, but I know which ones you really want to see.  Don't worry, I'm sure those 90-degree days are just around the corner.
