Lil got these duck slippers for her first birthday, and although they're a novelty item, I can't convince her to take them off. Or put anything else on. I doubt that has much to do with the ducky slippers though...

bed, bath and beyond
Lil takes to bath time as if it's another dip in the pool. Even though the water isn't as deep, and the kick-kick-kicking isn't nearly as splash producing, she still has a pretty good time. Mama makes sure there's always a few toys floating around, a rubber duck here, a squirty sea creature there. To keep Lil smelling sweet, Mama adds a bit of Baby Bee Buttermilk Bath Soak to the water, which not only smells like lovely heavenly baby, it also keeps her skin supple and soft (it doesn't hurt to add a little to Mama's bath time, either). The only problem is that it is so hard to find in local stores- even online- that Mama is trying her best to hoard what she does find! So if you live here in the City, and you happen to see some of this at your local natural apothecary (or bodega), please comment below with the address! We will visit
Once Lil is all clean and the bath water is sufficiently splashed out of the tub, it can only mean one thing: Pajama Time.
There is a song and, on occasion, a little dance that must accompany Pajama Time lest Lil melts down into a pile of cranky. On a good night, she gets a little chamomile and lavender oil baby massage, and some poudre de miel in her GroVia diaper. On a not-so-good night, she still gets the powder, but too much kicking Mama in the face can result in a loss of her spa privileges. I know, I know... Poor Lil.

where the wardrobe ends
Is it possible that Lil is out of new outfits? Is she between seasons? Between sizes? Maybe Mama is lacking inspiration...
Or maybe this is all the inspiration Mama needs.
Lil was going to get a pretty outfit for the day, but she just looked too perfect in her birthday suit not to photograph au natural. Boticelli had his Birth of Venus. So how could we not present the unadulterated Lil?

HOT part 2
We had to go out today. This was Lil's last day of Starfish level swimming classes. She wore a new swimsuit, which seemed to spark some Esther Williams quality in Lil. Our bathing beauty was calm and graceful in the pool, even taking a couple of big solo swims.
The afternoon became "clothing optional." Instead of covering the baby, we covered the living room in sheets. It seemed to work for Lil.

it's... super mega naked baby
Lil was in a serious funk today. Not surprising, since it was a perfectly gorgeous day for a walk. There was definitely something toothy going on, so we laid low. So low, in fact, that clothes became optional. I did manage to get some super girl Babylegs on her, so when she stretched out and rolled around it was if she took flight... sort of!

hats all it takes
Even though we discuss (among other things) baby fashion, the truth is sometimes babies don't need much clothing. However, with summer upon us, it is important to remember to keep our delicate babes protected from those evil UV rays. A wide-brimmed hat is a must-have, no matter what you are, or are not, wearing.
We're not trying to confuse our Big Hat PSA with PETA's I'd Rather Go Naked campaign. But the message is just as important: when you cover your head, you cover (almost) everything! Did you know that a good sunhat can provide 50 spf or greater? That metallic floral print is versatile, but Lil's best accessory is sensibility.

one-sie is the loneliest number
This was one of those strange, hazy days where it feels like the waking moments are more sleepy that the ones spent asleep. Lil didn't need clothes, or even a sleepy suit. It was warm enough for only a diaper, so she slipped on a sweet little onesie for picture time. It's a good look for mid-spring, just in time for our first delivery from our CSA (community supported agriculture) share of farm-fresh goodies. There will probably be some spring peas in there, but none as sweet as this.

Weekend, casual attire
This is as dressed as we got today. Lil wasn't in the mood for clothes.
