orange you glad to see me?

all juiced and ready to go

Lil and Mama rolled out to see our friends at a nearby pub.  While the babies squealed and wriggled around, clearly unphased by the scent of stale beer, the mamas grabbed a cold one and chatted about teeth, purees, and everyone's favorite topic, sleep patterns.  Now that Lil and most of her friends are around 7 months, there's no rest for the wicked.  But don't tell that to a wee 4 month-old named Grayson. He seemed to have that sleep thing down cold.

After skipping her afternoon nap, Lil required something vibrant to match her high voltage energy level.  Mama pulled out her juiciest top and Lil's favorite OJ colored bag shorts.  And even though Lil was not allowed anywhere near the floor of this fine establishment, she still needed her knee pads, just in case she tried to go for a crawl across the table.  Lil was gracious enough to let Mama finish her beverage without starting any shenanigans.  This time.

maybe next time, Lil...

weekend update #6- beer hall babies

Saturday gave Lil the chance to meet some new babies, and Mama the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful glass of Belgium-style pilsner.  ahhhh...

Chloe

This wee cutie is Lil's new friend Chloe.  Funny how we walked clear across town to meet up with a family that lives just 3 blocks away.  Chloe is the only girl we've met who is taller than Lil, and she reminds us so much of cousin Josie it's like having a new cousin for Lil to play with.

Chloe

Chloe makes sitting in the biergarten look effortless in a bold floral print skirt and ruffled tanktop.  It's OK, Papa, have another pint.  I don't mind at all!

well, orange you a cutie...

After all the fun, sun, and socializing Saturday brought, Sunday was much more low key.  There were a few attempts made at venturing forth to some exotic location, like the Central Park Zoo, but none of them were fruitful.  Mama and Papa and Lil just hung out in the A/C like a bunch of scruffs.  Lil did manage to pull together this smashing look- a nautical-inspired top and tangerine paper bag shorts.  There is a fabulous pair of blue and white striped shorts that match this top, but Lil's size -5 waist does nothing to hold them up- even with the fluffiest cloth diaper in Mama's stash.  The fiery flame color does give this outfit a little kick, and for an active 28-week old like Lil, every kick is important.

tooty fruity

I love cloth diapers.  I love that someone out there has put thought and care into what covers my baby's bottom and what takes care of her... errrm... business.  Lately it seems that the trend in cloth is all about style and sustainability.  In all the shopping I've done and all the different types and brands I've looked at, I have found nothing cuter (not to mention affordable, soft, and top-notch) than Little Owls diapers from The Littlest Forest.  Made from 100% organic cotton and lined with super-soft and absorbent bamboo fleece, these diapers are crafted with care.  They fit Lil nice and snug even on those skinny legs of hers, and in too-sweet prints like whales, citrus fruits (pictured here), and a really cool brown geometric pattern, they look as good as they perform.  Pair these fitted diapers with one of the Little Owls organic merino covers (arriving to you pre-lanolized, thankyouverymuch), and you've got an all-natural leak-proof diaper.

It's amazing that a diaper can inspire today's look, isn't it?  I found this lace-trimmed shirt in a soft lemony yellow at a children's consignment shop in Williamsburg called The Flying Squirrel.  And how could I pass up a chance for Lil to wear her orange slice knee-highs, especially with a butt as perfect as this one!

She's got BabyLegs, and she knows how to use them

Lil's world of citrus tones

Lil hadn't played with her music cube in a while, and since it coordinated so nicely, I thought a few rounds of Twinkle, Twinkle were in order.
