yipes stripes

PB097517

Lil got a new sweater last week. It's a nice simple cotton pullover from Oshkosh B'gosh, and it's roomy enough to throw a layer or two underneath. Nothing too fancy, no crochet detail, no fancy embroidery, or buttons, or bell sleeves. Just play clothes, pure and simple. As cute as Lil looks in her little ruffles and pleats and all those lovely dresses, she's at the age now where she just wants to wear something comfy and secure.

Thankfully, this doesn't mean Lil has to dress all blahh. Nice, juicy fruit stripes on top and bottom, and some cute little punky socks will give her just enough edge while she explores her surroundings and perfects those new skills. I have a feeling that footwear will be playing a larger roll on the blog soon!

is there an 'unnecessary roughness' call in rugby?

Lil's rugby stripes compliment her first baby injuries quite nicely.  Perhaps that shiner came from a rough match instead of toppling onto a toy?  Did she scratch herself, or get in a scuffle on the field?  Don't know for sure, but this outfit makes her look a little tougher and less clumsy, even with the flower headband.

We shook things up today and headed out for a morning stroll. Short sleeves hoodies are always a winner, especially paired with bandana-print babylegs.  But what is Lil doing in her wool diaper soaker on a beautiful summer morning? Ah! In Baby World, wool is a year-round material due to its natural breathability and anti-microbial properties. Right, well, after today I might amend that arguement slightly, because even though it's breathable, wool still gets warm. And antimicrobial or not, that's still pee. Eew (not ewe).

bloomin' mad

long time, no see!

Bloomers.  I know they exist on Etsy for adults, but bloomers are serious baby wear.  Designers go all out for babies with the lace and the ruffles and the bows, but I wanted something simple for Lil.  An everyday kind of bloomer, if you will.  I was thrilled to find these white button-front bloomers on Zulilly a while back, and now that Lil has finally packed on a couple pounds and grown several inches, I figured it was a good time to try them on...

Hmmmm...  Maybe too much bloom.

rainbow room

Today Mama was nowhere to be found, but do you think Lil noticed? Not even!  She was too busy captivating her grandparents.  Mama didn't even dress Lil today. That credit goes to her grandmama.  She found this rainbow striped romper and some camo socks for our wee string bean, who enjoyed several airplane rides from her grumpa. It's good that we have very high ceilings in our living room, although I don't think ceiling height is really an issue for Grumpa. He has plenty of clearance.

Mama spent the day scoring some new summer looks for Lil and for herself, but I know which ones you really want to see.  Don't worry, I'm sure those 90-degree days are just around the corner.

Yesterday, lovely day.

Friday was the first lovely day of the year, and it's still technically winter.  It's is kind of amazing to experience 70-degree days at this time of year.  Fashion wise, it makes me a bit sad because there are wintery outfits that are too big for Lil, but will be too small when it gets cold again. I was glad to have a couple short sleeved dresses though! I added a little white cardi to this ensemble, would you believe it was size 6 months!
We headed out to Manhattan (Lil was in her Beco), down to Soho to visit our friends at Lunessa. Lil may still be a little young for fine jewelry, but mama sure isn't!  It turned into a long day, but we both enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.
