lil bigger

You may remember this romper Lil had when she was a wee thing. It was my single favorite item she wore throughout infancy. It was soft, and leopard print, and had a little tag that said "pretty girl" or something like that. I was crushed on the day I realized it no longer fit. Kinda felt like I was losing a little snugly kitten. I began searching for the same romper in a 12-month size for her to wear this winter, but it was not to be found.

You can imagine my excitement when I found the same fleece leopard print romper this fall... the only thing was that it wasn't gray leopard print it was a tan-and-pink leopard print. Hmm. A little disappointing, but when Lil put it on today, crawling around all over the place in her awe-inspiring cuteness, all my reservations melted away.

Kitten babies are really, really adorable. Much more so than baby kittens.

one hot tot

Just one day after reaching 8 months, Lil came down with her first cold.  Our first fall-like weekend ruined by sniffles and a fever.  Mama keep a close watch over her tiny patient, and by the end of the weekend, Lil was cool and comfortable and on her way to dreamland.

cool and absorbent and 100% organic

Saturday Lil resembled a jellyfish in more ways that one.  Wriggly, wiggly limbs, and a thin viscous layer complimented this convalescent look. Her super-absorbent organic bamboo jellyfish diaper, and a two-sizes-too-big organic cotton jellyfish tee were soft enough to keep Lil cooing even as her temperature kept climbing.

Sunday morning brought some relief, but Lil was once again forced to miss swim class.  Her spirits were lifted after a long nap and some play time with The Cat.  It was as if he sensed her illness and did his best to look after her- acting as a foot warmer while she played her excersaucer, lying within arms reach whenever Lil was in Mama and Papa's bed, and staying close by while she crawled around the living room.  The Cat and Kitty always brighten up Lil's mood, no matter how miserable she gets, whether it be from a cold, or teething, or any other baby woes.  Lil is so lucky to have furry friends looking out for her.

rainbow room

Today Mama was nowhere to be found, but do you think Lil noticed? Not even!  She was too busy captivating her grandparents.  Mama didn't even dress Lil today. That credit goes to her grandmama.  She found this rainbow striped romper and some camo socks for our wee string bean, who enjoyed several airplane rides from her grumpa. It's good that we have very high ceilings in our living room, although I don't think ceiling height is really an issue for Grumpa. He has plenty of clearance.

Mama spent the day scoring some new summer looks for Lil and for herself, but I know which ones you really want to see.  Don't worry, I'm sure those 90-degree days are just around the corner.

Lil n' Friends

Today we had a special guest stylist, Malika Green, artist and footwear designer.  Two months old and she already knows a clothing designer and a footwear designer- talk about networking!  Now to convince these talented people to launch a line of babywear.  Malika has started making shoes for her own daughter, two year-old Lia, and we're anxiously awaiting those hand-me-downs!

Lil is becoming quite the social butterfly, a fact which is reflected by today's outfit.  The embroidered butterfly on the shoulder of this romper is more than adorable, it's clearly the badge of a baby socialite.
The cute little snail matches with Lil's pacifier, which for the moment, she has traded in for her fist.  Malika brought Lil a new toy, Tiki Monkey.  Hopefully Tiki Monkey will get Lil in the mood for a trip to Hawaii, and convince her to be well-behaved on a 13-hour flight.  She also hung out with Jerome Giraffe, and The Kitty.  During naptime she spent some time with the Seahorsey, the musical seahorse.  A little "Twinkle, Twinkle," will get you in good with this infant in no time.
